Over the course of several discussions and my attendance at startup meets (primarily in India) I have realized that web startups have access to a huge ecosystem of mentors and venture funds. They have access to quality feedback on technology and marketing in general from experienced industry veterans.

What I feel they lack is proper insight into how to make their web app search engine friendly right from the word go. This is a must in today’s era as search engines are the originators of majority of traffic on the web. A solid SEO foundation can make rest of the journey relatively easy. I have seen sites which did not think of it earlier and now are struggling to make amends as they have invested too much into the development (which did not care at all about search engines).
